Conundrum

Emotions fester
Like the corn and fruit in moonshine
All the pain
All the hurt
All the sorrow
And fear
Smiling and laughing
Like nothing is wrong
It sits and ferments
Just like the moonshine
There's a point when it's safe
When it okay
They seem more happy
With your 'smiling' face
The moonshine is ready
You've reached the point
Your starting to break
But just one more day
One at a time
All will be fine
The moonshine,
Left to ferment
Over time it all goes bad
The moonshine undrinkable
Emotions become one
You cannot smile
You cannot laugh
You grit your teeth
You ball your fists
It's all your fault
Why must it come to this.

About this poem

I wrote this poem as a free verse to let out emotions I had built up over time that I didn't know how to deal with. I hope this poem allows people to understand that it's better to let go than to hide.
