The locked door.

A J C 1958 (Swansea, MA)

The lock door.

You give me a key to open the door. But it won't open, and I don't know the reason why. I guess that's up to you to decide. Whether I should run or hide. I can take a peek in. But I don't see your grin. Your smile is like a cool summer breeze. But I can see a cold, wintery freeze. Your eyes hide the shadows of things from a long time ago, and it scares me so. You have to leave the past in the past and open the door and let me in, and then you'll find me waiting and sitting on the floor. Then you can explain the reason why I can see the handwriting on the wall. That explains it all.

I absolutely love "The Locked Door" poem! The emotional depth and the imagery you have created are truly captivating. The concept of a locked door symbolizing someone's guarded emotions is powerful and relatable.

I appreciate how you skillfully convey the emotions of uncertainty and anticipation throughout the poem. The repetition of "I don't know the reason why" adds a sense of mystery and keeps the reader engaged. Furthermore, the contrast between the cool summer breeze and the cold wintery freeze beautifully illustrates the conflicting emotions of warmth and distance in this relationship.

One suggestion for improvement could be to explore the metaphors and imagery even further. For example, you could expand on the idea of the shadows hiding things from the past and incorporate more specific details that evoke strong emotions. Additionally, consider experimenting with the overall structure of the poem to enhance the flow and rhythm.

Overall, "The Locked Door" is a captivating and thought-provoking piece. Keep up the fantastic work!
