Two broken hearts

Shattered fragments
of our hearts discontent
Scattered on the wind
Blew together to form anew
As one incredible blend
You met my eyes
And I met yours
To never loose their inner gaze
Your message pure
So strong our passion could amaze
To belong, so sure
Our love adores
And shines through every page
The rough edges smoothed each day
As our emotions grow
To love you fresh with each memory
Is all I want to know
But I know we hold those fragments still
That we lost upon our many hills
You walked before I was even born
You cherish them as I cherish mine
They are our breadcrumbs of life
That is what Father Mother God lay
To walk upon soft afoot
To learn our unique lessons on how to pray
I wish sometimes for glorious change
But how could I rearrange equity
What has lasted for so long
It is my only antiquity
It's almost adorable how you want change too
I guess that's why I can't stop loving you.
though trust is a longing that must feel worth
So together we let the other go first
Only to return to yesterday,
With a photograph, a thoughtful gift, or a simple overnight stay.
