I shy away

Heather Lydia Thornhill 1981 (Manchester)

I feel I have a lot to say
But in my heart I shy away
I see the fields they're calling me
So lush and green too wet to lay
I search myself in others traits
Finding things I no longer need
But walk away with such a greed
As if they'd still planted their seed
I have to look but stare, not I
For surely it could make them cry
Or force some grudge to its dismount
And bring the fury to their eye
Though I swiftly think I cannot lie
I want to ask you who am I
You always seem to reveal me
Eventually hating me
How can I trust humanity
If all I do is shy away

Sometimes it’s easier to just shy away from dealing with our true emotions. Nicely written!
