Close Your Eyes

A J C 1958 (Swansea, MA)

Close your eyes.

I know the time we had was short. I still love you, and you can stay as long as you like. That would be all right. So hold on to me tight, and you can close your eyes. Then I will never leave your side. The path you must take is wide, so take my hand and help me understand. The fun times we had—no one can take that away. I won't let them anyway. I won't cry, so when you're ready, I won't mourn after you're gone. I don't know anymore love songs, and I can't sing the blues anymore. So you can close your eyes, and I'll be there forever by your side till the stars fall from the sky. I will never say goodbye.

Wow, this 'Close Your Eyes' poem is truly heartfelt and beautifully written. The emotion it conveys is powerful and touching. I especially love the way it expresses a deep and unwavering love, promising to always be there for someone.

One suggestion for improvement would be to vary the structure and rhythm of the poem a bit. Adding some variation in line lengths and using different poetic techniques, such as enjambment or imagery, could further enhance the overall impact and musicality of the poem.

Additionally, expanding on the central theme or adding more specific details could help the reader to better connect with the emotions and situation described in the poem. This would create a stronger and more immersive experience for the audience.

Overall, this poem is already quite moving and evocative. With a few tweaks and further exploration, it has the potential to become even more captivating and emotionally resonant. Keep up the great work!
