Performing Artist

Anyone who has achieved,
Notoriety as a performing artist.
Done to have believed,
They also receive monetary benefits.
Is a myth.
Whether one is a poet.
A dancer or singer spotlighted on stages.
A writer of plays or a novelist,
Heard to hear...
About the quality of their activities.
Paid even thousands of dollars.

These folks are not without a team.
Managers and agents get a cut.
After taxes are paid.
Publicity people are needed,
To get the word out.
Celebrities seen in the back of limousines,
More noticeable than a team of lawyers.
Negotiating behind the scenes,
Contracts to sign.
Directors to pay.
To audition less talented actors.
Performing at their best mediocrity.
Sound and lighting people.
Recreating what is fictioned to believe.
Leaves little if anything,
To the ones who's names...
Are splashed to see high on marquees.

And this I know to be a fact.
To be as happy as I am,
An unknown living basically and happy.
Although my contributions,
Are splattered all over the internet.
With reviews of my work getting attention.
As I pinch pennies monthly,
To buy a bus pass!

Done to then ask myself,
Is my peace of mind more to me valued...
Than notoriety to achieve,
To keep up with appearances?
And accomplishments and pretensions...
Around those who do this,
Sipping champagne and caviar niblets!

Yes!
My peace of mind to acquire,
To earn and receive...
I would not exchange.
For millions of dollars to have taken away,
By those who are paid...
Done to keep my ego flattered.
Too much do I love,
A tuna sandwich...
Made with whole wheat bread.
And a refrigerator that has in it,
More than slices of leftover pizza.
And a half empty bottle of spring water.
To ensure my look appeals to the camera!

Been there done that not again!

'Don't you want to have fame?'

For who to get paid to claim it?
