Compassion

           Compassion

Why do you turn your head when you look at me? Why can't you give me a hug and hold my hand? I never make any demands. But there you stand, with no pity or shame. To me, every day is the same. You look at a stranger and give him anything he needs. But I need a friend in you indeed, and you walk away and come back some other day. You forget I'm still here, but you don't dare come near. You don't have compassion, feelings, or fear. Well, one day, there won't be anyone there for you. That's going to leave you with a lot of tears. But I will still be near. To calm your fears and have compassion, hold your hand and kiss you good night. It's too late to get into a fight, and you know I was always right.
