Come and sit a spell
Come and sit a spell,
Take a gentle pause.
Enjoy the bard
The melodious bird
Life boils less hard.
Close your eyes,
Ice your piquant thoughts.
Feel the wind
Feel the waft
Life floats swiftly.
A child in you peeps,
Altruism unveils a scene.
You are now a feather
Into a momentary trance,
You are into an airy delight.
You are in meditation,
You cross all trepidation.
You are on a flight,
Beyond the light,
My heart is now very light.
Come and sit a spell,
Tears you may wipe off.
Inhale the florae,
Pleasantries slowly embrace
The poet begins to muse.
My place has sheltered a vast-
Lovers past and present,
Couples of all classes and ranks.
They sauntered here
Eons passed a multitude of miracles.
Stars are twinkling now,
In the veil of mist, I am alone.
Leaves are falling,
Generations are whispering here.

About this poem
Every park bench has an eternal call for a wanderer. Just lend your ears and you can hear those voices. During my visit to Dover NH, USA, I saw a park bench on which it was inscribed 'Come and sit a spell'. This propelled my thoughts in another direction and this poem was ultimately born.
