Beneath gray skies,
 the spirit weeps,
In somber tones,
the sorrow seeps.
A shattered soul,
devoid of light,
Heartbreak's chill,
 a moonless night.

Whispers of despair,
a constant ache,
In solitude,
the heart does break.
A canvas painted
 with shades of pain,
Depression's canvas,
 a silent reign.

Echoes of laughter
now distant and faint,
Hope's feeble pulse,
 a fading plaint.
A once vibrant world
turned to gray,
Tears like raindrops
 can't wash away.

Fragments of dreams
 lie scattered and torn,
A symphony of sadness,
 forlorn.
No respite
found in the passage of time,
Just the echoes of grief,
 a haunting chime
