Veiled griefs

I wake up to an unfamiliar place
A long road engulfed in darkness
Rain pouring down
ricocheting, as I stand still,
I think I heard something
footsteps behind me
oh, now they're everywhere
is this an illusion?
I'm all alone, or am I?
for I can hear things around me,
people crying
and silence full of sorrow and pain,
I panic, I run
something absurd I sense
there's no end
my destiny unknown,
the debris from shattered buildings
lie around
locked doors, empty grounds

I'm scared
I want to go home
but wait,
I think there's something I'm being told,
Tragedies untold for decades
of people, I don't even know,
Debris from shattered
hope,
Sorrows of the world
linger in this town of eternal pain,
stories wanting to be heard
bleeding in a cage.
It's all quiet now
the rain has stopped
my heart, heavy
my mind, lost
there's no reflection of me
for I don't exist here,
It's the home for tragedies
the breeze holds fear,
It never stopped,
those were tears, the rain
I'm just waking up
leaving this town of eternal pain

About this poem

The poem explores themes of tragedy, shattered hope, and the untold stories of people unknown to the narrator. The town described seems to be a symbolic representation of suffering and eternal pain. As the narrator tries to make sense of the surroundings, they feel a desire to go home but are confronted with the realization that they may not truly exist in this place. The poem concludes with the narrator leaving the town as the rain, which turns out to be tears, ceases, leaving a heavy heart and a lost mind. Overall, the poem conveys a haunting and surreal journey through a landscape of despair and the weight of tragic stories.

Habeeba

Greetings, I'm Habeeba, a 16-year-old with an unwavering passion for poetry that has been a constant companion since my childhood. According to my mother, I was always immersed in the world of words, tirelessly crafting stories and poems, even if they were deemed a bit "stupid" in retrospect. Nevertheless, that early enthusiasm has evolved into a journey of progress, and I find myself continually improving, striving to compose more sophisticated and meaningful verses. From my earliest years, I've been captivated by the art of storytelling and the rhythmic dance of words on paper. As I've matured, my poetic endeavors have transitioned from simple musings to more intricate expressions, reflecting a deeper understanding of the craft. Writing has become a powerful outlet for me to navigate the complexities of life, and each poem is a snapshot of my evolving perspective. Despite my young age, I approach poetry with a sense of maturity and a commitment to honing my skills. I find inspiration in various facets of life, and my verses often explore the nuances of emotions, experiences, and the beauty found in the ordinary. In addition to my literary pursuits, I actively seek opportunities to engage with the rich tapestry of life, drawing inspiration from diverse sources. Looking ahead, my aspirations in the world of poetry are vast. I hope to not only continue refining my own craft but also to inspire others through the emotive power of words. Whether it's through published works, performances, or community involvement, I aim to make a meaningful contribution to the world of literature. In essence, my journey with poetry is an ever-evolving exploration, and I eagerly anticipate the chapters that lie ahead, where words will continue to weave the narrative of my passion and creativity. more…
