Sensory Seduction

The television holds me in content, with content.
Burning me at the stake with images of a bigger world.
Bringing me particles of a planet being trampled on and abused.
Telling me it's all mine for the taking.

I sit with my plate of fried food in my bubble.
Gawking, hypnotized, helpless.
Goddamn these loud commercials.
Put me back under.

The radio like a pervert, swoops in from the haunting dawn.
Kidnapping my thoughts and motivation.
No ransom, no motive, just because it can.
It always will.

It sluts it's way into my skull.
Molesting me with a sound-wave lullaby.
Once again purity is pulled from my body.
I am fed what I think about. Fed who I am.

The computer waits for me, blinking happily, rapidly.
Winking at me.
It waits for me to throw hours away willingly.
Hours I could spend helping people, or god forbid helping myself.

I feel the light of the monitor heating up my cheeks.
The keyboard becomes sweaty and the air around me humid.
In a blink, my night is over and it's fallen into morning.
Where did it all go?

I tell myself to just leave the fucking house already.
I tell myself it's better out there, things out there hold meaning.
I lie to myself.
