Mirror
Skin turns to earth
with tones of clay and soil
Melting geometric forms
Dissolving through time
Fading into the matrix
There is evidence of beyond
Bordering the doors of our reality
It's glimmer is soft and overlooked by most
The secret is told to those who wait and endure
And can see the glimpses of light through the pain
Through lessons and experience
Which strike the pillars of our character
Again and again
And as time erodes the structure,
With it's dust will be rebuilt
A being of unspoken strength
Unbreakable but with enough softness
To share itself with others
So that they may stand and feel the breeze of hope upon their faces
So that they may look to the sun
And the moon alike
And thank them both for what they have taught us
That the balance of good and evil
Of fear and of hope
Of time and of nothingness
Are all worth it in the end
When you can take all of the pain and see the truth
For what it really is
About this poem
I made this poem about my struggles with CPSTD and previous struggles with addiction. It signifies getting battered down with trauma but building yourself up into something beautiful and strong again and being able to share this and to help heal others who experience the same pain. It is an ode to those who have endured and it allows them to know that there is hope and something beyond ourselves.
