her scarf

you always said you liked me in that scarf.
in your favourite picture of me
i was wearing my scarf.
i don’t wear it anymore.
i let my sister take it back
so
i stopped thinking about you
and the rare moment
you complimented me
on my scarf.
i don’t wear it anymore.
i don’t want to wear it anymore.
i still like the scarf.
but i got a new one.
it means
i can stop thinking about you
and everything you did to me
and instead i can think about
other things.
i met someone new
and they like my new scarf
and they compliment it.
and me.
it’s the same colour
as my old scarf
but it’s a different texture.
a better texture.
and for once
i can feel loved.
