My bonnie lass

My bonnie lass, ye are my heart's delight
The fairest flower that blooms in nature's bower
Your een are like the stars that shine at night
Your lips are like the rose that scents the shower
We wander by the burn, we walk the glen
We breathe the fragrant air, we hear the lark
We gaze upon the hills, we rest the fen
We find a cozy spot, we kiss the dark
But time is short, and fate is ever cruel
And soon we must obey its stern command
And leave this happy scene, this blissful jewel
And part from ane anither's loving hand
And sae we tak our leave, wi' mony a sigh
And swear to love each ither till we die
