Airmail of Liberation : Folded Fears in Exodus
"A page of worries, folded into planes,
Sent flying out, like so many silent pains,
No burden left to weigh upon my soul,
As white-winged carriers take their heavy toll,
Transporting burdens off into the blue,
Leaving me lightened, worries seen through.
Each crease and fold transforms the pressing fears,
Into objects drifting off, no holding nears,
Thoughts once crushing with such awful might,
Now simply soaring, paper wings in flight,
No more clutching close my discontents,
But rather granting them sweet release andsents.
As fighter planes patrol the worried skies,
Scanning the terrain of thoughts to terrorize,
I ground them all, no lofty patrols above,
Their folded forms, devoid of fright and shove,
I set them free upon the open breeze,
Unclenching fists, uncrushing unease.
This fleet of paper planes, which fill the mind,
Leave heavy feelings far, far behind,
Crumpled pages, floating high and away,
Distance gained with each passing day,
Till specks on the horizon, shining bright,
At last they flutter off, beyond my sight.
No longer will those planes drop payloads of woes,
Raining down turmoil, launching torpedoes,
Of awful thoughts and dreads and apprehensions,
Bombing my days and nights with tensions,
For now, defused and disarmed, harmless they glide,
Drifting aimless, no more taking sides.
My worries, weaponized against my peace,
Have found their retirement, tensions cease,
No more conscripted against my calm and rest,
Their service ended, now I lay them to rest,
Sent off with no more hostility or danger,
Just paper planes, of anxious thoughts the changer.
As pages once harboring my deepest fears,
Are rendered void, empty souvenirs,
Of how things were before I learned this trick,
The power I hold, anxieties to flick,
With just some folds and creases, worries flee,
No more torment, paper planes set worries free."

About this poem
This poem beautifully captures the transformative power of folding worries into paper planes, releasing them into the open sky. The metaphor of fighter planes patrolling worried skies and the liberation of crumpled pages symbolize the freedom gained from relinquishing anxieties. The verses depict a journey from burdened to liberated, where worries, once weaponized, find retirement in the simplicity of paper planes.
