Window of Faces

Sarah Whelpley 1982 (Sault Ste Marie)

I see early days of spring.
Tall grass grows smooth down the hill leading to a freshly, gently flowing light blue river.
Across the river quiet chatter.
I see a row of neatly scattered lush green trees.
The clear air floating around this wonderfulness.
I take in the sweet smell of spring.
As I look deeper int the trees
I see images upon them
I cross this shallow river for a closer look
The images are faces of people in my life
The people I hold deep in my heart
River chatters loud and clear
Faces become fuller to me
I have not yet met this beautiful man
The river slows into a deep strong voice calling me
I blink he is gone.

About this poem

I wrote this poem about a young girl day dreaming while taking in the beauty of nature and all it has to offer. She is daydreaming about the people in her life currently and about the man she will meet in her future.

I love the outdoors, being a mother of two young men. I love my life and now with my kids nearly grown, I want to find my writing voice again and see where it takes me. more…
