Viewed From Above

If our lives were viewed from above,
would others be able to sense our love?

We are normal people, living a normal existence—

—but, below what everyone sees, I feel your presence.

Like a helpless soul stuck in the dark corners of my mind, I wonder if you are truly even there.

Would other people see and feel you are part of me, if they were to stop for a moment and stare?

I close my eyes and hope that you feel me as much as I do you.

I wish with all my heart that you are not a story my imaginative mind has created from out of the blue.

For I paint colors of us in red, purple, and green.

I lay in bed with you in the evening, and dream of you in places we can’t be seen.

It isn’t fair that I cannot express what my heart wants you to know.

If our lives were viewed from above, would you see all I have not been able to show?

Would you escape for a moment and look at me the same way you have done so many times?

Would you tell me how you felt, and admit your heart’s crimes.

If our lives were viewed from above, would others be able to sense our love?

We are normal people that live normal lives—

—and perhaps the world cannot see the soul’s secrets and all it deprives.
