Unveiling Self-Love: A Journey of Acceptance and Growth

In the garden of life, I began to bloom,
A delicate bud, seeking love's sweet perfume.
But as I grew, my petals unfurled,
I yearned for acceptance in this vast world.

I chased after love, like a butterfly in flight,
Seeking validation, day and night.
But the more I pursued, the more I'd lose,
For love cannot be found in others' views.

With time, I learned, as the seasons turned,
That self-love is a flame that must be earned.
I shed my inhibitions, embraced my true self,
And found a love that could not be found on a shelf.

No longer did I seek in others' embrace,
For I found solace in my own inner space.
I realized that I am enough, just as I am,
A radiant soul, a girl with a plan.

I let go of the notion that love must be chased,
For it found me when self-love was embraced.
I danced with joy, like a bird in the sky,
Knowing my worth, never asking why.

No longer did I yearn for love's sweet caress,
For I found love within, a treasure to possess.
I embraced my quirks, my flaws, and my grace,
And found a love that time could not erase.

So, dear girl, let go of the need to chase,
Embrace yourself, with love's gentle embrace.
For in your heart, the love you seek resides,
A love that blossoms, as you let go of tides.

Grow, my dear, like a flower in the sun,
Accept yourself, for the battle is won.
For in self-love's embrace, you'll find the key,
To a life filled with joy, and forever free.

About this poem

As I grew I have encountered many challenges through body shaming and low self esteem. As I grow I realise my worth, accepting myself for who I am and filled with self love. I realised love cannot be chased but it will find you instead. Influencing each and every girl out there to be confident and love theirselves regardless of the world’s opinion. You are enough, you are seen and loved.

Autumn Midnight

“They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but I believe that a well-crafted poem can paint a thousand emotions.”Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Lindile Mabuza, and I am 17 years old. I currently reside in Limpopo, Tzaneen. Ever since I can remember, I have been captivated by the power of words. Poetry has been my chosen medium of expression, allowing me to delve into the depths of emotions and explore the beauty of language. In my poetry, I strive to create a delicate balance between vivid imagery and raw emotion. I often find inspiration in nature, love, and the human experience. Through my words, I aim to evoke a sense of introspection and connection with the reader. Influences and Inspirations: The works of Just poetry and Arts have greatly influenced my writing style. Their ability to craft profound and evocative verses has inspired me to push the boundaries of my own creativity. Looking ahead, my goal is to continue honing my craft and sharing my poetry with a wider audience. I aspire to publish a collection of my poems and perform at poetry slams, where I can connect with fellow poets and enthusiasts. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me and my poetic journey. I am excited to share my work with you and the poetry community, and I hope that my words resonate with and inspire others. more…

Thank you for sharing this poem. Are you truly seventeen? If so, I believe you are an old soul. I find your words to carry a beauty and wisdom beyond the regular scope of a person so young.

Unveiling Self-Love was on my very short list. I will continue watching for your work.

    Warmly, Maggie
