Insecure Finds Beauty

In shadows cast, she softly yearns,
A girl who seeks but never learns,
To fit the mold, to seamlessly blend,
Her heart's true worth she can't defend.

A chameleon in a world of hue,
She paints herself in shades askew,
Trying to match each passing trend,
Her uniqueness she can't defend.

In mirrors' gaze, she finds her flaws,
Imperfections that give her pause,
She measures worth by others' view,
Her own reflection she misconstrues.

With heavy heart and tear-streaked face,
She longs for belonging's warm embrace,
But doubt's cruel whispers hold her tight,
Confidence wanes in endless night.

Yet deep within, a fire burns,
A spirit strong, though covered in ferns,
She's more than just a fleeting trend,
Her inner light she must commend.

For beauty isn't just skin deep,
It's in the soul, the secrets we keep,
In laughter, kindness, and eyes that see,
The truth of who we're meant to be.

As seasons change and time moves on,
She'll find her place where she truly belongs,
No need to hide or fit the norm,
Her unique radiance will surely transform.

So let her learn and let her see,
Her worth is far beyond what eyes decree,
In time, she'll embrace the truth anew,
A masterpiece, beautiful and true.

Jerri Burdette

My name is Jerri Burdette, and I am thrilled to share my story with you today. At 34 years old, I've encountered numerous obstacles in life, but they have only strengthened my resolve to embrace who I truly am. As I embark on this journey, I'm not perfect. My punctuation might falter, my sentences might ramble, and my grammar might not always be impeccable. But you know what? That's okay. Perfection is not my goal; authenticity is. I am proud of who I am, imperfections and all, and I hope you can see the beauty in embracing oneself fully. more…
