Gone Insane

Shena Ellis 1984 (california)

I am holding back the questions
I refuse to recognize
but instead of every wish come true-
it's heartache in disguise.
Though all intentions
until now
were backing my surprise-
responsibility I take
on full account
that this was my demise.

The blame shall rest on weighted shoulders
that I carry around.
Maybe I’ll find the answers
if I check the lost and found.
My head once held up days ago
now forced to face the ground
and that guided path
that led me straight
now turns me round and round.

I must look like a novice
to the man who plays the game
and when you wake up all alone-
just know I've only gone insane.
