Childhood

Do you remember when we were scared of the dark because that’s where the monsters would hide? Now we’re scared of the dark cause that’s where the people hide. 'Smoking' was just us crushing up smarties and blowing out the powder. The only 'drug' we knew was candy. Freedom was jumping out of the car after a long ride. Having 'fake' friends meant imaginary ones. Our parents used to tuck us in at night to keep us safe from the boogie man. Having nightlights wasn’t seen as weak but cool. When thunderstorms would happen we would run to our parents to keep us safe. The only owie you had was when you scraped your knee when falling. Touching the sky was sitting on Dad's shoulders. Tag was only a game. Racing was to see who was the fastest. Growing meant getting a few inches added to your height. Where the hell did we go wrong in life?
