Léda

Au centre du bassin où le marbre arrondi
Entoure une onde léthargique qui tressaille
D’une ride qu’y fait, de son bec qui l’entaille,
Un cygne se mirant à son miroir verdi,
Elle cambre son corps qu’une attente roidit ;
Son pied nu touche l’eau que son orteil éraille,
Et sa langueur s’accoude à la rude rocaille,
Et son geste s’étire au métal engourdi.
Les cygnes nonchalants qui nagent autour d’elle
Approchent de la Nymphe et la frôlent de l’aile
Et caressent ses flancs de leurs cols onduleux ;
Et le bronze anxieux dans l’eau qui le reflète
Semble encor palpiter de l’amour fabuleux
Qui jusqu’en son sommeil trouble sa chair muette.
