My loving pet

From the first time I saw you,
I knew that I loved you
I watched you play
i watched you grow
I watched you get old
I loved you from the moment i brought you home.
 You waited for me every day that I left.
You met me at the door when i came back
You showed me all the love that you had.
Many years that went by
with you by my side
Over the years I watched you get older
You got  more  grey hairs  everywhere
You had less pep in your step
But I loved you, never the less.
When your body started to fail you
Thats when i knew,
I was going to loss you.
I held you and loved you, each and every day
Because  i knew that your time was fading away
That day came to quickly
I wasn't prepared for this
I held your paw and kissed your head
I told you what a good pet you have been, and held you tight till the end.
Then I watched as you took your last breath.
You took a piece of me that day when  you left.
But in my heart you remain
My loving pet .
