The Loss

As I take this long journey

I find myself as a passenger on a rollercoaster of emotions

My soul crying like the great waterfalls of the earth

And my heart beating as if it was where the waterfall ends and the river of memories begins

My thoughts are like the waves of the ocean coming into the coastline brushing against the sands of time

A nightmare that knows no end and dances on the waking hours...sleep brings no rest

Only of what was and is now and thoughts crack open the sleep into the awake like a lightning bolt that has hit trees

A scene played by characters in a movie has become true reality and we are the characters

A symphony that echos throughout the land of tragedy make way down the streets of our every breath

The ifs, could ofs, would ofs, should ofs, the why's and how's chant like the monsoons

A hurricane's rage runs ramped only to be stopped by a tornado of sanity's winds

Repeating steadily like cloudy and sunny days

As time goes on the rollercoaster will slow down but never coming to a stop

A journey that I must take

A reality that I can't escape

I must learn to live with another broken wheel on the cart I sit in

Staying strong like the mountains that knows no defeats

And continue to stand as its environment changes like the stars in the sky

I will always miss you and I love you always & forever play throughout my entire body like an endless radio station stuck on one track

About this poem

My kids father tragically passed away... this is the best way I can express what I feel and hope that if someone reads this they do not feel alone
