Cheers To A Past I Shall Never Know Again

Cheers to a past I shall never know again
A past buried in the sands of time to never surface again.
But why tempt me with laughter? And why tempt me with joy?
If misery is the gift you leave at the end of your toil.
Why tempt me with gladness, with feelings like forever?
If you're the moon to shine by night but fade away by dawn.
Your memories in my cup of wine will flow in me a river
And by your cross I'd lay my head it's where upon I'm sawn.
A hearty sway to the left and slowly to the right,
All those days we danced with time and never thought it'd pass.
But while I danced and swayed my hips, time held unto you tight,
And when I turned to see your face, time stroke you my past.
This has taught me this to say, enjoy the present with whom is present
Or you'd wear grief like a cologne, and write a library of regrets.
