Wisdom of Time

Cameron Gates 2002 (Atlanta Georgia)

September 23

As the years go by, and time marches on,

We find ourselves growing old, like the dawn,

Our skin grows wrinkled, and our hair turns grey,

And we see life in a different way.

We remember the days, when we were young,

And life seemed to stretch out, like an endless song,

But now we know, that time waits for no one,

And each day that passes, is one that's done.

We cherish the memories, of the past,

And hold onto them tightly, to make them last,

For they remind us, of the joy we have known,

And the lessons we have learned, to be shown.

We may not move as fast, or be as strong,

But we have a wisdom, that comes with living long,

We know what is important, and what is not,

And we treasure each moment, like a precious pot.

We may have regrets, of what we could have done,

And things we should have said, to make them fun,

But we know that life is fleeting, and time is short,

And we must make the most of it, with good support.

So let us embrace, the time that we have,

And cherish each moment, like a precious salve,

For growing old, may have its trials and pains,

But it also brings wisdom, and the chance to gain.

For in the end, what really matters,

Is the love we shared, and the hearts we flatter,

The memories we made, and the lessons we learned,

And the legacy we leave, to be concerned.
