Winters Embrace

P.R. Sydow 1960 (San Francisco)

Winter wraps us in days Dark and cold.
Freezing rain upon my face
numbs the body,
chills the soul.
Blue eyes turned grey,
hold the memory of a summer day.
Trees are empty.
the ground is bare.
tracks in the snow
of a lonely hare.
However dreary
we embrace winter.
for without it
there can be no spring.

About this poem

During a walk in the mountains of Northern California during a cold winter's day, I allowed my mind to wander.
