Crush in a store
The innocence of our secretive exclusive chase around was a thrill in this simple store
playfully crossing paths non-stop in aisles, while blatantly staring at products that did not meet our wants, instead met our reasoning to surround ourselves with ourselves
jabbing silent glimpses of our eyes across trolleys and consumers, as well as staring at the ground due to the reoccurring annoyance of nervousness whenever we gained too close of a distance
I genuinely desired for more with each strike we took at each other
wishing I’d at least have made a smirk comment, stare at her longer to confirm our attraction, confronted her even if in such a social environment
I notice our time quickly ending in front of my eyes as she isn’t afraid to look into me, the last item was scanned and off she went
as she was heading for the sliding doors, my eyes instinctively darted into hers,
as did she, to my surprise
we desperately take this last meaningful glance that felt like an entire era, faith was just nudging the back of my shoulder to go for it and I refused
as short as it was, the closure left behind too many lusting questions, my heart felt it needed to take a breather as regret caved claustrophobically
reflecting back on this specific minor moment, relinquishing to instigate our emotions as humans, even with the continuous glances, makes my frailty awake
as well as positive others, regret sits with this prominent moment
maybe I’m the problem, maybe they're the problem, maybe we should’ve talked about it
maybe we should’ve met
About this poem
This poem is a real life scenario that played out during a simple shopping trip where i caught the eye of a girl who reciprocated with my attention. We never speak to each other but so much was said with our eyes that it laid out what i missed out on. Regret is the theme of this poem with a positive outlook in the beginning, slowly dissolving into a regrettable loss
