Cheater

It's taken me months to feel cheated
To feel anger
At him
But mostly at myself
Its eating me up from the inside
Growing stronger each day
Weighing inside me
Like a cancer
It becomes dark and grotesque
Clinging to my rib cage
Casting shadows on my soul
Poisening my heart and veins with alcohol, drugs and tobacco
I scrub away at the filth
But dirty I still feel
An edge of fakeness to my character
An imposter in my own skin

The devil becomes intrigued.

He lurks in my black lungs
Like a growing foetus
Feasting on my guilt
Feasting on my betrayal

I see him clearly now,
I see him when I look in the mirror
Developing his ugly features
Eyes, he watches
Ears, he listens
A Nose, he breathes
A Mouth, he smiles
A tongue, he licks
Greedy fingers and toes, slither between my ribs
Squeezing, snatching, theiving
My bones his cage
My lungs his bed
My body his home
Inside me he grows, he festers.

I see him clearly now,
I see him when I look in the mirror
I see him when I look at you
I hear his nasty whispers
Haunting our every moment
Our most intimate moments are no longer ours
We are not alone
There's an intruder
The devil is there too
Like a sick creep he watches
He teases, sometimes he even joins in
Only I can feel him
Only I know he's there
He makes sure of that
He enjoys the power
He laughs when I catch his eye
I try to silence him
By soothing and stroking your head
But they are no longer my gentle, innocent fingers
Crippled, boney, monsterous fingers are now touching your beautiful face
Leaving scars as they scratch and claw at your skin
I'm filled with sickness
As I realise in horror, in discust
That the devil has not only claimed me
But he has claimed you too
I feel my lips curl as he grins
