One Through Ten

One in darkness
Two in light
Three hungry monsters inducing fright
Four protective walls to keep them out
Five kids together or just about

Six of them lingered here before
Seven, if you count the adult whore
Eight loud bangs then broke the door
Nine shouts of terror to shake your core
Ten seconds later; a blood-stained floor

So ends this story and evil has won
Steps one through ten were less than fun
Brick walls and locked doors didn't slow death down
As the monsters broke in like the devil's hound
And so ends this story with no one to be found

About this poem

I wanted to write a poem for Halloween, and I think I've accomplished that with this. I had a bit of a hard time trying to end this poem; I want to revisit this at later time for some sort of revision.
