One Easter Day

One Easter Day when I was six
My mother told me of the crucifix
On the cross, the Romans declared Jesus dead
Breaking his body for us, as he had with the bread

But he rose from the grave and came back to life
To bring salvation and hope in the midst of strife
All one must do is believe to gain grace
To receive God’s loving and tender embrace

One Easter Day when I was nine
I read of how Jesus poured out the wine
This symbolized his death saving those who were lost
To overcome all sin his blood was the cost

He spoke of Remembrance and defeating the grave
He mentioned forgiveness of the sinners He’d save
The Light of the World, the Truth, Life, and Way
All this I learned of Jesus from One Easter Day
