oh god no its tim

garry g 1962 (teeside)

A SNIPPET OF WORK LIFE.

Back in the day when i was long employed
i was often requested, and very annoyed.
when because of my age and vast knowledge
i was asked to train up newbies from college.

Oh god here we go again i painfully thought
point me towards mecca, guidance i sought,
many had attended and then many had gone
oblivious to my teaching as they did it all wrong.

Fingers in wall sockets, burnt fingers, squashed toes
why cant they understand and see just how it goes,
please listen to me when i say DO NOT TOUCH!
much electricity is painful will burn you and such.

But it was hopeless despite all of my preachings
they could not do it,oblivious to my teachings,
occasionally one would come along with a plan
and ended up being excellent, not an also ran.

The only problem was the good ones stayed a while
then went off to start up their own business pile,
then in direct competition with me and my boss
it made no sense to me it was just such a loss.

I remember one in particular TIM was his name
thought he was clever but in fact was insane,
i left him in charge of a squeaking machine spin
all that it needed was some penetrating oil in.

I thought lets leave him.client wants my advice
on buying a new machine oohhh very nice,
you dont need a new one this ones gonna zoom
but then from inside her house a low muffled BOOM.

The house windows shaking we all looked up shocked
we ran to the laundry room but the door was blocked,
pushing and shoving eventually we fought our way in
too see carnage, and fire, and a burnt bewildered TIM.

I had left him a spray can of the best penetrating oils
use a little, its butane ,too much, fiery death, day spolied,
but he had used the whole can to try and cure the squeaks
but now the machine is broken, and bent, and it leaks.

So training up newbies NO not for me now thanks a lot
thats why i have retired now as my nerves are all shot,
and guess what my neighbour has called a service man in
the engineer stepping out the van OH GOD NO ITS TIM!!!!
