Words you said.

Today I heard someone say the words you used to say to me.
But it wasn’t as soothing as your voice used to be.
For your voice was a song to my soul.
It was therapy, for my body.
Today I remembered how we used to be,
when we were still a thing.
It was like a world where the lights were never put out.
Like a river that never ran dry.
Then it got me thinking,
what our love would have been by now.
If I would have still been your spice, and you my favorite.
For a moment today, I missed you.
But walls have been built and bridges burnt.
You said all you had to and I said mine too.
So I end this poem here, for if I go on,
I might shed a tear.
I do hope tho,  that I don’t have to carry you in my heart for long.
For if I do, I might never get the chance to move on.
