Heart of Tsushima

David Coad 1969 (Canterbury)

Pink blossom petals
Glide on Eastern winds
Over temple gardens
Gentle waterfalls
Where warriors stand proud
Samurai swords
Glint in the rising sun
Heart of Tsushima

David Coad

David Coad is a British writer and poet who is now over 50 and getting on, so thought it about time he got his stories and poems published. He was born in Canterbury in Kent in 1969 and from a young age was always interested in writing stories. He was educated at St. Annes Convent in Sturry & St. Anselm’s comprehensive in Canterbury. He studied electronics at Canterbury college of technology for 3 years. He moved to Cornwall in 1990 and spent many years working in factories in Canterbury, Falmouth, and Redruth. It’s during this time he began writing stories and poetry, to pass the tedious hours working in factories. In 2005 he found Terry Lander, a fellow poet, writer, and publisher who founded Lyvit publishing. Based in Helston Terry liked his writing and began publishing his books of both poetry and stories. In 2008 David got a job working as a teaching assistant at Penair School in Truro. Here he founded Creative Club, which was an after-school club for students to come to write, draw, paint, and do anything creative. It soon become the most attended after school club with over 60 students attending every Friday afternoon. He has now published 14 creative books with the school and Lyvit. Due to personal circumstances, he was unable to get hardly any of his work published for almost 20 years. That thankfully changed in 2022. In 2020 he made a lockdown creative book in the village of Shortlanesend near Truro. David enjoys writing poetry and children and adult stories. He is currently working on several projects and enjoys collaborating with local artists to showcase their work. more…
