My Hometown Church

When I was young at Sunday School
I didn't think of it as cool.
My parents wanted me to learn
Of good and bad so I'd discern
What matched the Golden Rule.

In my teen years, I also went
To Sunday School and then I spent
My time with fewer students who
Did not care if they ever knew
Just what the Bible meant.

When I became a full-grown man,
Of Christian stuff I was no fan
In learning holy things at all,
Because I never heard God "call"
Until I learned He had a plan!
