Insanity defined as repeated actions, expecting different results

Put all my faith in a fairy tale
that I told myself in long, deep chapters
every night, then leading to incomplete
hearts, allows no happy ever afters

Put all my own faith, in  a miracle
I fasted and quietly, prayed upon
to be brought then to the throne of heaven
to find out, the occupier was long gone

Put all my faith in the sisters of fate
say they spin reality like a thread
a struggling fly, on a spider's web
my free will missing, presumed dead

When it's obvious the answer is me
appear then, to define insanity
