SERVICE DOGS ARE FAMILY TOO!

I had a friend in my family I was close too
He was not human, he was a dog
He could roll over and lay like a log
Coppertop was a friend indeed
Now just to me but to my wife he would be happy to please
Copper was friendly to every one that he would meet
Liked to pose for his pictures also, even for ones that he never knew yet would greet
But do not mess with his daddy
that is what I was to him
He could growl with the best and that smile could turn into a snarl and a snap
But he would never bit just scare until you said I am sorry and that smile would just flair
He brought many smiles to other faces throughout his life
Not just to me or my wife
The whole world lost a friend the day he died
But our loss was the angels gain to have a new found guide.

About this poem

This is about a dog that became a service dog after the Gulf war in 91. He was a good dog and knew what I needed when I needed it. This tells a story about what he was like.
