Writings of a hollow man

The following verses are written by a hollow man
when he held on to words he could barely stand

When he wondered if God was dead or shackled by fate
if hollow men are only things this God could create

Our hollow man had not seen much in his life before
His sight was covered by crowds of familiar shadows

The shadows who looked worried, sad, or anxious
They kept telling him what was coming next

How long has he longed to be alone,
only to discover a yearning for the death of shadows

"Even if you are gone", the hollow man wrote with a smile
"your death won’t save me, so I hope for mine!"

Terrified of the decision he may never make
of a limbo of indecisions, far worse than hell;

he wrote and reduced worlds into words by hubris
Flaying was the just punishment for his offense!

Did he not know that words are governed by time?
Was he hollow if he had death on his side?

"Far away are cherished memories of my old self
By now, I must have died countless times to death

Maybe I'm punished for eating from the tree that was forbidden
or perhaps in a slumber, I missed the annunciation and this is my garden!

After my fall, life began under time's demonic reign
Perhaps 3,000 years of silence were not passed in vain"

Hollow man has always hoped for beauty in his world
alas, stuffed men can't have anything other than the void

So he finished his writing and sat back with much satisfaction
The hollow man had foolishly searched for remedy in reflection
