The God Particle

In the depths of the universe,
Where mysteries still unfold,
There lies a tiny particle,
That holds secrets untold.

The God Particle they call it,
A name so grand and divine,
It hides within the atoms,
A kernel minuscule and sublime.

It dances and it shimmers,
Afloat In the vast astronomical sea,
Guiding the forces of nature,
With its unseen energy.

Scientists strive to understand,
The nature of this enigma,
Probing its existence,
With minds so full of stigma.

But the God Particle remains elusive,
A puzzle yet to be solved,
Its presence felt but unseen,
In the mysteries it has evolved.

Oh, God Particle, so elusive,
Mankind seeks to know your truth,
To unravel the secrets of the universe,
And reveal to us the genesis of life.

Our Judgement Day may unravel,
If the Higgs boson bubble erupts,
Unleashing doomsday cataclysmic trouble,
A quantum fluctuation to destroy the universe.

About this poem

The universal and eternal discussions continue since the dawn of mankind continues in all societies as to the existence of God, or Creator or as otherwise know depending on the faith group or cultures who hold such values. What transpired before "The Big Bang"? What are the factors that contributed to the creation of gravity, energy, and matter? What is the eventual outcome? I always admired the work of Stephen Hawkins and often wonder if he understood more about the cosmos that he never revealed to mankind, perhaps to spare us anxiety and fear. Please take a few moments to reflect and contemplate the significance of it all.

As a scientist and someone who enjoys both poetry and philosophy this was a fun way of bringing all of those aspects together. A light-hearted poem questioning what the god particle it is and why we even call it that. What true power does this particle hold?
