Spokes of Venus

Free verse
What love did— it did not hurry
Shrouded in months of quandaries    
A bewitching decay
Soaked in chamomile baths with sugar flambé
My inkling thoughts that would betray
A spontaneous hurray

A fluttering sound beam,
In August’s heat was sent to me
Initialed with his ghost
Spokes of Venus, undoubtedly untold
As an amber photon swiftly escapes  

About this poem

This poem is inspired by the astronomer Percival Lowell’s “Spokes of Venus” and my own misunderstandings.
