Pure Woman

Does her lips appear as rose petals or does it hold a cigarette between them,
A pure woman does she make the earth divine as she walks or does she walk on pure grounds,
does she live in hounds of hell as a lotus or does she make those same waters clean,
A pure woman does she satiate your lust or make you warmer on lonely nights when the path is yours and yours to walk,
A pure woman does her hands rise to hold her kids or to feed the world?
A pure woman, Is her world her family or the world, her family, A pure woman does she love you because she loves herself?
A pure woman can she be barren in her womb but full in her heart, Would you love a pure woman if you really met one?
A pure woman, does she put herself on the cross to feed you or does she go to war for you?
A pure woman, does she see her child in every child or does she make her child more divine,
A pure woman is she harder to love once you find her?
A pure woman does she wear red or white?
Or perhaps blue like Mother Tara, gives the dead some respite.
A pure woman, does she liberate your soul or feed your hungry bones, Is she an inspiration or your alibi?
A pure woman, can she be seen like a man's other half or is she already complete?
Is a pure woman the one who chases her dreams  & ambition or the one who helps you succeed?
A pure woman is she white as the snow with pink subtle cheeks or does she have the dusk as her garments and rigid bones?
Does she fly or does she run around?
Does she pray every day at the shrine or on your bed?
If you really found one would you really want to make her your wife?

About this poem

This poem sheds light on the challenges faced by single, independent women in Indian society, particularly when reaching their 30s. It touches on the prevalent patriarchal beliefs and brahmanical spirituality that often place men on a higher spiritual pedestal. It also highlights the taboos that exist in this society. It takes immense courage to challenge these dogmatic beliefs and carve a path that goes against societal norms. This poem serves as a reminder of the strength and resilience it takes to live life on one's own terms in the face of such obstacles. It also sheds light upon stereotypes prevalent about being a woman in a Dogmatic Indian Society or a third world nation .

Akshaya Patwal

Greetings, I am Akshaya, a creative soul hailing from India. From as early as the age of 8, I embarked on a journey of self-expression through writing, a journey that has remained close to my heart ever since. Over the years, my passion for the written word has melded seamlessly with my proficiency in graphic design and art, forming a unique tapestry of creative pursuits. My artistic endeavors revolve around themes that resonate deeply with me. Feminism, isolation, spirituality, and freedom are the cornerstones of my creative exploration. These profound topics serve as both my inspiration and my canvas, allowing me to convey emotions, thoughts, and messages that strike a chord with those who experience my work. As a seasoned graphic designer and artist, I have honed my ability to intertwine visual aesthetics with the power of language. Whether crafting evocative book covers that encapsulate the essence of my narratives or weaving intricate visuals into the fabric of my artistic expressions, I believe that the fusion of visuals and words creates a truly immersive experience. My creative endeavors are driven by a desire to effect change and invoke emotions. By delving into the complexities of feminism, isolation, spirituality, and freedom, I endeavor to illuminate perspectives and touch hearts. The authentic and personal touch I infuse into my work stems from my own experiences and beliefs, fostering connections that extend beyond the boundaries of mere artistic expression. As I continue on my creative odyssey, I remain committed to growth and exploration. The journey I embark upon as a writer, graphic designer, and artist is a testament to my evolution, and I am excited to see where my dedication and creativity will lead me next. Feel free to reach out if you wish to learn more about my creative endeavors or discuss the fascinating confluence of visuals and words that define my journey. link-instagram.com/divinedoorsart With warm regards, Akshaya more…
