CANDLELIGHT
Unlit candles made of wicker set upon the throne,
they have no flames upon their crowns and yet,
they flicker forlorn.
Though light may have once graced their heads,
lifting and weighing them down,
now they hinder still
laid dow, forlorn.
Though once so tall and freshly placed,
have all but dwindled down,
to what they must eventually,
their fate is to sputter out.
About this poem
This poem is a metaphor for the age old proverb , 'All good things must come to an end'. It means nothing lasts forever, all things and situations are temporary, or happiness is fleeting. Here, once the flames in the beginning were powerful and bright on the throne with blazing crowns of fire drops. However, as time passed their flames too fizzled away, leaving them as tiny stubs of wax, unlike the tall wicker candles they were in their glory days. In they end, they aged and 'died' out.
