Her Majesty

Phillip took you by the hand today,
Gently kissed you on the cheek.
Said it was time to join him for eternity,
After such an eventful week.

You will always be our loving Queen,
The ruler of a Commonwealth and nation.
But now a loving angel too,
You left behind a world of adoration.

You will earn your wings quite quickly,
As rewards for your service and devotion.
You have served the  people well for seventy years,
With compassion, honour, courage and emotion.

You’ll be sadly missed.
A pillar, steadfast and strong.
The  rock  on which a nation was built,
You made so many feel as though they belong.

You have lived a remarkable life,
Filled with many wonders, like no other.
But you were more then just a queen,
Also a loving daughter, sister, grand and great grandmother.

Go now and rest in peace your majesty,
With your beloved husband Prince Phillip by your side.
We will all remember you fondly,
Though we are in mourning, now that you have died.

England will embrace your son Charles,
As he ventures into his new life as king.
And we know you will be watching closely over him,
As the world takes him under their wing.

And as Paddington  Bear so eloquently put it,
“Thank you Ma’am,” so much.
For you didn’t even realise,
Just how many lives you would unknowingly touch.

Your crown is now a halo,
No shining jewels or treasure.
Just being with your heavenly family,
Is now your greatest pleasure.
