On the road

Jet Rood

Free verse
On the soil lays a shoe
left behind by owner
right-footed

It is made to walk
high instep boot, black
a blue lace

Comfortable shape
still looking good
a waste without the left

As I pass it by
I wonder
where the possessor has gone

Is he from my country
from somewhere else,
a traveler?

Summer
the holiday season
a time to explore
