Good Man's Virtues

To be a good man, one must rise above,
Embody virtues that sparkle and glow.
In strength and kindness, he'll show his love,
A beacon of light, as life's tides ebb and flow.

He bears compassion, a heart that's wide,
Empathy woven into his very core.
He listens earnestly, walks beside,
With understanding, he'll open every door.

Integrity shines, a steady flame,
His word, a bond, unwavering and strong.
Honesty guides, there's no need for shame,
He admits his faults when he's done wrong.

A good man's courage stands tall and bold,
Facing challenges, he won't retreat.
With perseverance, his dreams unfold,
A resilient spirit, determined and upbeat.

He lifts others up, a helping hand,
Encouraging dreams, nurturing growth.
In unity, he'll take a firm stand,
Supporting all, believing in their worth.

Respect he grants, to every soul,
Regardless of creed, color, or race.
For unity is his ultimate goal,
In every person, he'll seek the grace.

Generosity flows, a flowing stream,
Giving freely, without hesitation.
He'll help those lost in life's cruel scheme,
Spreading kindness with no reservation.

A good man's wisdom, a gentle guide,
In humility, he learns and imparts.
Through every storm, he'll stand with pride,
Guiding with wisdom, warming hearts.

Forgiveness reigns within his soul,
For he knows none are without flaws.
To heal and grow, he'll make them whole,
Granting amnesty without a pause.

With love and care, a good man's grace,
Touches lives, leaves an indelible mark.
Through trials faced, he'll find a place,
An eternal light in the vast, cosmic dark.

So let us strive, to be this man,
To rise above, to embrace the quest.
With noble hearts and souls that can,
Be a beacon of light, forever blessed.

Tammie Swinehart

Not much to say. I live in a small town in Indianapolis and work full-time as a manager for an insurance company. I have written poems going back to grade school. They were all horrible, but fun and passed the time. I have journals of poems that go back 40 years. So now that I have more free time, I dig them out, clean them up while preserving the original thought and meaning behind them. more…
