Too Much Ham for Sam

Clapping and running
My feet, my hands
Go slapping.
I care for much,
I feel sparks flying.
I reach out
And find a creature
In my hand.
It’s a little man
Named Sam.
I wonder much
For freedom
Does he see?
A little leap
And he could be free,
But he’s my beloved
Pet and I couldn’t
Have that,
But we humans
Should be free,
For we’re above
The rest and some
Of the best, but
Below and hold
This little man is
Bold but low
And would rather
Be free than with me;
But thank the heavens
I have ham for Sam
Or a large piece of
Spam to cram.
I see he’s ravenous
As he eats and leaves
Messes and crumbs
Of his treats,
But Sam don’t you
Fall and slam
And go bam!

Freedom is for
All even if your
Proud and small.
One of the greatest
Joys on earth is
Freedom.
We are free in
Jesus Christ,
For our sins are
Paid for on his cross,
And we have freedom
And forgiveness from sin.
Therefore we all
Taste freedom in
Some way or form,
But like Sam some
Never leave their
Nest because they
Think it’s for the best,
But please, please
Don’t give more
Ham to Sam!
He’s had too much
Already, and Sam’s
A funny old man
As he’s hip to the jive
And dances to music
As if he were five.
