Simple Bowl Of Noodles

Charles Edward York 1966 (Saigon, Vietnam)

Simple Bowl Of Noodles

I satiate my soul appetite with simplicity
A bowl of ramen noodles becomes
The edible metaphor I digest
So basic it returns my palette
To a flavor I like and understand
A meditation to make
A complicated situation
Easier to face when right now
Gets all my attention.

Every savory moment shows beauty
Spice awakens the senses
To the reality nothing is
Separate from all else
The Buddha within
Knows time is too precious
To take for granted
It’s delicacy demands care
My appreciation satisfies.
