Sekere (African musical Gourd)

SE` KE RE`

(African Musical Gourd)

Gift of gods, made by man
Eloquent mould, clad in beads.

Pedestal with rhythms
Agog in music.

Audible not audacious
Centrist yet ceramic
Being furtive denies not your fusion.

Made for duet
Take to duel
Gracious oldies of youth
Influential indemnify icon.

Beat the sole of souls
Awake the spirit of sleep
Hold your breath and yet breathe
Mothers, maidens, the lords and peasants alike.
Dance your beat.

And in unison your voice remains aloof
You joy of Africa.
