Nightmare

Tammy Godfrey 2023 (California)

Flooding  memories is my dream.
Tumultuous waves, within roaring seas,
intoxicating my mind.
In deep nightmares I dive.
My heart thumping hard
within, I want to immerse.
Outside everything seems well
Here slowly I'm stepping into my own hell.
If you could truly take the nightmare away,"
My heart wail up for sure.
In progress a silent bonfire in my mind, I beckon you.
Exactly opposite to my world
Me, pouring out all varied thoughts, ordeals fought, all possessiveness, obsession within
Am putting into fire, eyes burning.
Everything passing into oblivion
I'm shedding off tears & expectations
words that come into my mind
"Please fire take my nightmares away."

About this poem

I have been having nightmares for years and though maybe writing about how they make me feel would help me grow.
