Keep it change

Kadence Dudley 2007 (Alabama)

Lately I’ve been starting to question something. Something I’ve never questioned before. Are the colors starting to want more? Am I so blind by those dull colors only I can see? Am I the only one that can see what they want to be? Or do I just want someone to see what’s in me?

I guess you’ll never know how lucky you could really be. Maybe it’s all in your head. Maybe everyone thinks you’re fine but really you wish you were dead? Maybe I’m ok, maybe I’m not. Maybe I just don’t want this beautiful heart to rot.

And what if you don’t know which one is green or which is red? Then do our know what’s in your own head? Sometimes I get upset about the little things they had said. I want this color, but should I have that one instead? I can’t choose, I can’t, I can’t choose the red!

The bright blue and green I used to stare at all day, slowly start to fade away. None of it matters now. in the end I always end up choosing the red, and because of that it all comes down to a decision I can’t make.

About this poem

Once my teacher had asked me to write abt making a decision between 2 things. This poem is abt choosing who to love and the consequences between both of them.
